NASDAQ (NDAQ) Halt Tied to Flood of Data
August 29, 2013 2:14 PM EDTNASDAQ OMX (Nasdaq: NDAQ) today provided the following update on the preliminary findings of its internal review of the events leading to the August 22 temporary trading halt in trading of NASDAQ-listed securities.
A preliminary internal review has identified a combined series of technology events that caused the initial market problems and extended the halt period. A number of these issues were clearly within the control of NASDAQ OMX. NASDAQ's (NDAQ) Greifeld Takes to the Airwaves; Says Was Not Hacked, Needs to Improve "Defensive Driving"
August 23, 2013 11:58 AM EDTNASDAQ OMX (NASDAQ: NDAQ) CEO Robert Greifeld made the rounds on financial news networks early Friday, a day after trading on the exchange was halted for over 3-hours on a technical issue. Notably, Greifeld said that despite criticism he was proud of the firm's communication. He also said the company needs to improve its "defensive driving" in an effort to avoid issues at third-parties impacting the exchange. He said the shut-down was not the result of a hack. Greifeld would not lay blame on the NYSE Arca, or others, for the issue.
