Expert explains why silver and platinum shares are surging
May 20, 2024 5:00 PM EDTOn Friday, various commodity prices that had ground higher over recent weeks suddenly surged. Silver gained 6.1%, nickel 6.5%, copper 2.3%, gold 1.4%, platinum 2.3%, tin 2.5% and even US natural gas rose 5.25%.
Analysts at Gavekal Research noted that price action continued early on Monday (in the Asian session).
The rise occurred against a backdrop of weaker US economic data. Gavekal believes there are several possible explanations for the increase.
