NY Fed finds Americans see lower inflation level a year from now

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Americans expectations for inflation a year from now fell to the lowest level in two years, even as those same households said they expected more challenging financial times looming ahead, a New York Fed report on Monday said.

(Reuters) - The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq rallied on Monday to their highest closing levels since April 2022, while Oracle hit a record high ahead of quarterly results as investors awaited inflation data and the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision this week.

Fresh data shows earnings per share for S&P 500 companies were about flat in the first quarter, a major improvement over dour forecasts at the start of the reporting season.
