February 3, 2022 7:49 AM ESTShares of Spotify (NYSE: SPOT) tanked 10% in after-hours Wednesday after the audio streaming giant reported Q4 2021 earnings results.
While the majority of quarterly results topped consensus estimates, Spotifys user growth forecast for Q1 2022 barely matched expectations. The Swedish company reported a loss per share of 0.21, compared to the consensus estimates of 0.43, according to Refinitiv. Revenue came in at 2.69 billion, topping the 2.65 billion consensus.

Revenue for the quarter came in at $33.67 billion versus the consensus estimate of $33.38 billion. Meta Platforms sees Q1 2022 revenue of $27-29 billion, versus the consensus of $30.1 billion.
Spotify stock sinks on weaker-than-expected first quarter subscriber numbers

STOCKHOLM/LOS ANGELES (Reuters) -Spotify on Wednesday forecast current quarter subscribers lower than Wall Street expectations, but executives sought to reassure investors that growth had not cratered even as it deals with the fallout from the controversy around The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
The company's shares fell as much as 18% in late trading after Spotify reported the subscriber outlook.
