Community Bank System Reports First Quarter 2021 Results
April 26, 2021 6:45 AM EDTSYRACUSE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Community Bank System, Inc. (NYSE: CBU) reported first quarter 2021 net income of $52.9 million, or $0.97 per fully-diluted share. This compares to $40.1 million of net income, or $0.76 per share for the first quarter of 2020. The $0.21, or 27.6%, increase in earnings per share was primarily attributable to an increase in net interest income, a significant decrease in the provision for credit losses and lower operating expenses, offset in part by a decrease in noninterest revenues, and increases in income taxes and fully-diluted shares outstanding.
