July 24, 2020 7:02 AM EDTAmerican Express (NYSE: AXP) reported Q2 EPS of $0.29, $0.40 better than the analyst estimate of ($0.11). Revenue for the quarter came in at $7.77 billion versus the consensus estimate of $8.15 billion.
Second-quarter consolidated total revenues net of interest expense were $7.7 billion, down 29 percent from $10.8 billion a year ago. The quarter primarily reflected a decline in Card Member spending and a lower average discount rate compared to the prior year.Consolidated provisions for losses were $1.6 billion, up from $861 million a year ago.
