GAM assets slump 17.7 billion francs after director suspension

ZURICH (Reuters) - Money manager GAM Holding AG suffered a 17.7 billion Swiss francs ($18 billion) slump in the value of its assets after the suspension of a top asset manager prompted investors to withdraw billions of francs from its funds, the company said on Tuesday.

Shares in the Swiss-based group slid more than 14 percent to 6.2 francs in early trade, hitting their lowest level in nine years. They had traded as high as 18.18 francs in January.

Trump eyeing a 10 percent middle-income tax cut plan

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters at the White House as he left on a campaign trip to Texas, said on Monday his administration planned to produce a resolution within two weeks calling for a 10 percent tax cut for middle-income people.

"We're putting in a resolution sometime in the next week or week-and-a-half, two weeks," Trump said. "We're giving a middle-income tax reduction of about 10 percent. We're doing it now for middle-income people."

Michelin cuts market forecasts on EU emissions squeeze, China slowdown

PARIS (Reuters) - French tire maker Michelin cut its full-year market forecasts on Thursday and said a sales slowdown would worsen in the fourth quarter, blaming weaker Chinese vehicle demand and new emissions standards that have hit European registrations.
