Wall St. rebounds after upbeat earnings, bargain hunting

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks jumped on Thursday, giving the Nasdaq its biggest daily gain since March, as Microsoft's upbeat earnings spurred a rebound in technology names and investors snapped up oversold shares.
The Nasdaq rose 3 percent, a day after it confirmed a correction and registered its biggest decline since 2011.
The Dow and S&P 500 both moved back in positive territory for the year.

BEIJING (Reuters) - China finds it "hard to understand" why the United States is not sending senior government officials to a major import expo in Shanghai next month, the foreign ministry said on Thursday.
The world's two biggest economies are locked in an escalating tariff row, with President Donald Trump having railed against China for what he sees as intellectual property theft, entry barriers to U.S. business and a gaping U.S. trade deficit.

Chip stocks fall after Texas Instruments, STMicro warn on slowing demand
October 24, 2018 9:02 AM EDT(Reuters) - Semiconductor stocks slumped on Wednesday after Texas Instruments Inc (NASDAQ: TXN) and Franco-Italian chipmaker STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) warned of slowing demand.
While TI shares were down 6 percent in premarket trading, STMicro's stock was down 8 percent. Shares of Cypress Semiconductor (NASDAQ: CY), NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ: NXPI) and Analog Devices (NASDAQ: ADI) were down nearly 2 percent before the bell.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks plunged again on Wednesday, confirming a correction for the Nasdaq and erasing the Dow and the S&P 500's gains for the year, as disappointing forecasts from chipmakers and weak home sales data fueled jitters about economic and profit growth.
The Nasdaq closed down 12.4 percent from its Aug. 29 record closing high, falling 4.4 percent for the day in its biggest one-day percentage decline since Aug. 18, 2011.
