HAMBURG, Germany (Reuters) - Jet engine maker CFM International would be ready to enter negotiations with Airbus (NYSE: AIR) in the first quarter of 2019 on possible future increases in narrow-body jet production, said the head of French aerospace supplier Safran (NYSE: SAF).

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Singapore Airlines Ltd (NASDAQ: SIAL) is poised for a major boost to its U.S. footprint from Thursday evening as it resumes, after five years, the world's longest commercial flight - a near-19 hour non-stop from Singapore to New York.

The route, combined with the airline's plans to restart non-stop services to Los Angeles and add more non-stop flights to San Francisco next month, will give the premium Asian carrier its biggest-ever U.S. presence.

U.S. says China spy charged with trying to steal aviation secrets

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Justice Department said on Wednesday it had arrested and indicted a spy for China's Ministry of State Security on charges of economic espionage and attempting to steal trade secrets from several U.S. aviation and aerospace companies.

Chinese operative Xu Yanjun was detained in Belgium in April after a Federal Bureau of Investigation probe and extradited to the United States on Tuesday. The Washington Post reported he was lured to Belgium by U.S. agents.

(Reuters) - Boeing Co (NYSE: BA) delivered 61 of its best-selling 737 single-aisle aircraft in September, unexpectedly surging past numbers for August and suggesting manufacturing problems at suppliers may be easing.
