Anthem Reports Second Quarter 2018 Results Reflecting Strong Overall Enterprise-Wide Execution
July 25, 2018 6:00 AM EDTSecond quarter net income was $1.1 billion, growth of 23% over the prior year quarter. Adjusted net income of $4.25 per share grew by 26% year over year. Benefit Expense Ratio was 83.4%, better than expected and driven by strong medical cost performance across all business segments. Medical enrollment totaled 39.5 million members as of June 30, 2018, a decline of 129 thousand members during the quarter. Full year 2018 GAAP net income is now expected to be greater than $14.20 per share. Full year 2018 adjusted net income is now expected to be greater than $15.40 per share.... More
