The Hartford Reports First Quarter 2018 Income From Continuing Operations, After Tax, Of $428 Million ($1.18 Per Diluted Share) And Core Earnings Of $461 Million ($1.27 Per Diluted Share)
April 26, 2018 4:15 PM EDTIncome from continuing operations, after tax, of $428 million, or $1.18 per diluted share, rose from $303 million, or $0.80 per diluted share, in first quarter 2017 primarily due to stronger Commercial Lines and Personal Lines property and casualty (P&C) underwriting results, as well as higher consolidated net investment income and a lower U.S. corporate income tax rate Core earnings* were $461 million, or $1.27 per diluted share, up from $288 million, or $0.76 per diluted share, in first quarter 2017 due to core earnings growth in the Commercial Lines, Personal Lines, Group Benefits and Mutual Funds segments...
