(Reuters) - Mondelez International Inc (NASDAQ: MDLZ) on Wednesday named the head of Canadian frozen foods maker McCain Foods to succeed its long-time chief as the snack firm battles declining profits and activist investors.

Irene Rosenfeld's departure, set for November, will cap a challenging 11-year tenure, first as the chief executive officer of Kraft Foods Group and then as head of the renamed Mondelez.

Mondelez Int'l (NASDAQ: MDLZ) reported Q2 EPS of $0.48, $0.02 better than the analyst estimate of $0.46. Revenue for the quarter came in at $5.99 billion versus the consensus estimate of $6.02 billion.

Mondelez Int'l (MDLZ) Names Dirk Van de Put CEO, Succeeding Irene Rosenfeld

Mondelz International (NASDAQ: MDLZ) today announced that its Board of Directors has unanimously selected Dirk Van de Put, current President and CEO of McCain Foods, to succeed Irene Rosenfeld as CEO of Mondelz International, as she steps down effective November 2017. Van de Put will also join the companys Board of Directors. Rosenfeld will continue as Chairman of the Board until March 31, 2018, at which point she will retire and Van de Put will assume the role of Chairman and CEO.
