Microsoft's Nadella banks on LinkedIn data to challenge Salesforce

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ: MSFT) is rolling out upgrades to its sales software that integrates data from LinkedIn, an initiative that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella told Reuters was central to the company's long-term strategy for building specialized business software.

The improvements to Dynamics 365, as Microsoft's sales software is called, are a challenge to market leader Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM) and represent the first major product initiative to spring from Microsoft's $26 billion acquisition of LinkedIn, the business-focused social network.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rallied on Monday, tracking a relief rally that swept through Asian and European markets, after centrist candidate and market favorite Emmanuel Macron won the first round of the French presidential election.

Pro-EU Macron is expected to beat right-wing rival Marine Le Pen in a deciding vote on May 7 according to polls, which were mostly right about the first-round results.

Microsoft (MSFT) Said in Talks to Buy Cloudyn - Calcalist

Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) is in talks to buy Cloudyn for $50 to $70 million, according to a report from Calcalist.

According to Bloomberg, Elron said Cloudyn is in talks which may lead to its sale but that it hasn't signed an accord other than confidentiality.
