Commerce Bancshares, Inc. Reports First Quarter Growth in Earnings Per Share of 10%
April 13, 2017 7:00 AM EDTKANSAS CITY, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Commerce Bancshares, Inc. (Nasdaq: CBSH) announced earnings of $.68 per common share for the three months ended March 31, 2017 compared to $.62 per share in the same quarter last year and $.68 per share in the fourth quarter of 2016. Net income attributable to Commerce Bancshares, Inc. for the first quarter amounted to $71.5 million, compared to $65.4 million in the first quarter of 2016 and $71.6 million in the prior quarter. For the quarter, the return on average assets was 1.15%, the return on average common equity was 11.7% and the efficiency ratio was 63.1%.
