November 18, 2016 7:00 AM ESTCHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cato Corporation (NYSE: CATO) announced that its Board of Directors has authorized an increase in the Company's share repurchase program of 2 million shares. Prior to this authorization, the Company had approximately 840,000 shares remaining in open authorizations. Purchases under the share repurchase program will be made from time to time on the open market or in privately negotiated transactions and will be subject to market conditions and applicable SEC rules. November 17, 2016 7:00 AM ESTCHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cato Corporation (NYSE: CATO) today reported net income of $8.3 million for the third quarter ended October 29, 2016, which was flat compared to net income of $8.3 million for the third quarter ended October 31, 2015. Earnings per diluted share for the third quarter were $0.30, which was flat compared to $0.30 last year. Sales for the third quarter ended October 29, 2016 were $207.0 million, a 7% decrease over sales of $223.3 million for the third quarter ended October 31, 2015. Same-store sales for the quarter decreased 8%.
