Utilities partner to enhance power grid preparedness: Southern Company, LG&E and KU, PPL Electric Utilities and TVA establishing equipment sharing program
November 1, 2016 2:00 PM EDTATLANTA, Nov. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern Company, along with Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company (LG&E and KU), PPL Electric Utilities and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), today announced a new initiative designed to enhance the resiliency and reliability of the power grid by providing additional sources for obtaining critical equipment following disastrous events.

PPL Corporation Reports Third-Quarter Earnings
November 1, 2016 7:00 AM EDTALLENTOWN, Pa., Nov. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- PPL Corporation (NYSE: PPL) on Tuesday (11/1) announced third-quarter 2016 reported earnings (GAAP) of $473 million, or $0.69 per share, an increase from third-quarter 2015 reported earnings of $393 million, or $0.58 per share.
Reported earnings for the first nine months of 2016 were $1.4 billion, or $2.11 per share, an increase from $283 million, or $0.42 per share, for the first nine months of 2015. The company's results for the first nine months of 2015 reflected a loss from discontinued operations of $915 million, or $1.36 per share, resulting primarily from the June 1 spinoff of its competitive generation business.
