NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- American Express Company (NYSE: AXP) today reported second-quarter net income of $2.0 billion, up 37 percent from $1.5 billion a year ago. Diluted earnings per share increased 48 percent to $2.10, up from $1.42 a year ago.
