CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Northern Trust Corporation today reported second quarter net income per diluted common share of $1.09, compared to $1.10 in the second quarter of 2015 and $1.01 in the first quarter of 2016. Net income was $260.7 million, compared to $269.2 million in the prior-year quarter and $241.8 million in the prior quarter. Return on average common equity was 12.2%, compared to 12.8% in the prior-year quarter and 11.4% in the prior quarter.
