Autodata Says Jan. U.S. Light-Vehicle SAAR at 17.58M Units vs. 17.2M Units Expected (F) (GM) (FCAU)
February 2, 2016 2:12 PM ESTAutodata reports January light-vehicle SAAR at 17.58 million unit, versus 17.2 million units expected. SAAR for January 2015 was 16.72 million units.
The firm said total industry deliveries fell 0.3 percent versus the same period last year to 1,148,057 units.

BEIJING (Reuters) - Some global automakers are worried that China is pushing its weight around as the world's biggest car market - by enforcing its own, often outdated, vehicle certification standards on foreign cars.
China previously allowed global brands to sell cars without local certification in many cases, as long they were approved under international standards. Chinese rules essentially apply older standards to features such as bumper strength, brake performance and the size and positioning of lamps and mirrors.

GM pitches new product strategy to skeptical investors

DETROIT (Reuters) - General Motors Co (NYSE: GM) executives used to boast about how frequently the company redesigned cars and trucks. Now, the automaker wants to double the lifespan of vehicle platforms as part of a broader effort to slash and redirect capital spending, GM executives said.
