(Reuters) - Credit card issuer American Express Co's (NYSE: AXP) shares slumped in extended trading on Thursday after the company's 2016 earnings forecast disappointed analysts and investors.

AmEx shares fell about 3.7 percent to $60.35 in extended trading following the company's 2016 earnings forecast of $5.40-$5.70 per share.

American Express (NYSE: AXP) reported Q4 EPS of $1.23, $0.10 better than the analyst estimate of $1.13. Revenue for the quarter came in at $8.39 billion versus the consensus estimate of $8.34 billion.
