NEW YORK (Reuters) - Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc (NYSE: VRX) Chief Executive J. Michael Pearson was hospitalized with a "severe case of pneumonia" on Friday and is receiving treatment, a company spokeswoman said.

"We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to him returning to work when he is feeling better," the spokeswoman, Laurie Little, said in a statement.
