RBC Capital Affirms Amgen (AMGN) at 'Outperform'; Repatha Approval Similar to Praluent (REGN) (SNY)
August 28, 2015 7:22 AM EDTRBC Capital is out with commentary on Amgen (Nasdaq: MGN) following news that the U.S. FDA apprvoed the company's new cholesterol-lowering medication, Repatha (evolocumab) Injection.
Analyst Michael J. Yee noted that Repatha's approval is similar to Regeneron and Sanofi's Praluent. Yee continued:

Amgen (AMGN) Announces FDA Approval of Repatha for Lowering LDL-C
August 28, 2015 6:23 AM EDTAmgen (NASDAQ: AMGN) announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a new cholesterol-lowering medication, Repatha (evolocumab) Injection. Repatha is a human monoclonal antibody that inhibits proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9), a protein that reduces the liver's ability to remove low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), or "bad" cholesterol, from the blood.1 Repatha is indicated as an adjunct to diet and maximally tolerated statin therapy for the treatment of adults with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH) or clinical atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), who require additional lowering of LDL-C; and as an adjunct to...
