Lowe's sales beat on demand for appliances, outdoor equipment

(Reuters) - Lowe's Cos Inc (NYSE: LOW), the No.2 U.S. home improvement chain, reported stronger-than-expected growth in quarterly same-store sales as customers bought more expensive items in categories such as appliances and outdoor power equipment.
The company's same-store sales rose 4.3 percent in the second quarter, beating the average analyst estimate of 3.9 percent, according to research firm Consensus Metrix.

(Reuters) - An improving U.S. housing market helped Home Depot Inc (NYSE: HD) beat quarterly sales forecasts on Tuesday, and the world's No. 1 home-improvement retailer lifted its full-year earnings and revenue forecasts.
Shares of the Dow component rose 3.3 percent to a record $123.60 in morning trading. The stock has far outperformed the broader market this year with a 17-percent gain.

Home Depot (HD) Reports In-Line Q2 EPS; Comps Outpace Expectations; Boosts FY15 Outlook

Home Depot (NYSE: HD) reported Q2 EPS of $1.71, in-line with the analyst estimate of $1.71. Revenue for the quarter came in at $24.83 billion versus the consensus estimate of $24.71 billion.
Comps rose 4.2 percent, versus estimates calling for a 3.5 percent gain.
