While naysayers might have said that the Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone 5c was priced too high for lower-income users to reach, the company might not have to worry about that. Well, right now anyway.
AllThingsD (ATD) today cites Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) data showing that the more-expensive iPhone 5s is outselling the 5c by nearly a two-to-one ratio in the U.S.
CRIP data points to the iPhone 5s making up 64 percent of total iPhone sales at the end of September, while the 5c was at 27 percent. Apple's iPhone 4S took in 9 percent share.
Data and sales are still in their early stages. Many devotees and enthusiasts might be making a move early, while CRIP sees lower-priced smartphones selling better over a longer period of time. The initial trend, said the firm, is that sales have been similar to those of similarly-priced devices following the launch of the iPhone 5.
Shares of Apple are up 0.8 percent.
