Guess?, Inc. (GES) Tops Q1 EPS by 6c; Guides Q2, FY14 EPS and Revs

Guess?, Inc. (NYSE: GES) reported Q1 EPS of $0.14, $0.06 better than the analyst estimate of $0.08. Revenue for the quarter came in at $548.9 million versus the consensus estimate of $550.06 million.
Adjusted operating earnings for the first quarter of fiscal 2014 decreased 65.1% to $13.7 million.
Comparable-store sales in North America fell 9.8 percent in U.S. dollars and 9.3 percent in local currency.
"While we are encouraged by our start to fiscal 2014, the near term outlook for consumer spending remains soft and we are planning our business accordingly," commented Paul Marciano. "Southern Europe continues to be our main concern going forward."
Sees FY13 EPS of $1.70 - $1.90, versus the consensus of $1.79 and sees FY2013 revenue of $2.57 - $2.61 billion, versus the consensus of $2.60 billion.
The company sees Q214 EPS of $0.34 - $0.38, versus the consensus of $0.36 and sees Q2 2014 revenue of $620 - $635 million, versus the consensus of $618.43 million.
