Marcus & Millichap (NYSE: MMI) and Brown & Brown, Inc. (NYSE: BRO) have expanded their existing Preferred Partner relationship into Canada, according to a press release from the companies.
Through the arrangement, Marcus & Millichap's clients and investment professionals in Canada will gain access to Brown & Brown's insurance placement, specialty risk consulting, portfolio analysis and due diligence services. The expansion is intended to give Canadian commercial real estate investors earlier visibility into insurance costs and risk during the transaction process.
Marcus & Millichap has operated in Canada since 2013 and maintains a commercial real estate platform across major Canadian markets. Brown & Brown has a Canadian presence with operations supporting customers nationwide.
Richard Matricaria, chief growth officer of Marcus & Millichap, said the expanded relationship will provide professionals and clients with "additional specialized experience to help evaluate insurance considerations earlier in the investment process and manage risk throughout the investment lifecycle."
Dan Cioci, executive vice president and director of Brown & Brown's National Real Estate Practice, noted that "insurance costs continue to influence valuation and execution," adding that the Canadian teams bring local market knowledge supported by Brown & Brown's carrier relationships and specialty market access.
The expansion falls under Marcus & Millichap's Preferred Partner Program, which connects clients with select specialized service providers. Marcus & Millichap reported 8,818 transactions totaling $50.8 billion in sales volume in 2025, with 1,808 investment professionals across more than 80 offices.
