FranklinCovey (NYSE: FC) has appointed John Buchanan as Executive Vice President, Education, effective September 1, 2026, according to a company statement. Buchanan, who previously served as Chief Growth Officer at GoGuardian, will lead FranklinCovey's Education Division, which includes the Leader in Me program.
Coinciding with Buchanan's appointment, Sean Covey has been named Chief Product Officer, a company-wide role overseeing a unified product organization that spans FranklinCovey's Enterprise and Education divisions. Covey had led the Education division for more than a decade, during which the unit grew to serve more than 8,000 schools globally. He previously held the title of Executive Vice President of Innovations.
Buchanan brings more than 25 years of experience across education, sports, digital, and consumer brands. At GoGuardian, he led sales and marketing efforts that the company says reached more than 50% of U.S. K-12 schools. He previously held Chief Marketing Officer roles at Care.com and LegalZoom, and held leadership positions at Adobe, the NFL, and Electronic Arts. He holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Southern California.
"He is a proven growth leader who has scaled go-to-market organizations and has deep connections across education," said FranklinCovey CEO Paul Walker.
In his new role, Sean Covey will oversee combined Enterprise and Education product teams. "Our Enterprise and Education clients face many of the same challenges, and one product organization lets us bring our best work to both," Covey said. He holds an undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
