Iran lays out conditions for reopening Strait of Hormuz, Iranian media says
Investing.com -- Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi met with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff on Tuesday during the UN General Assembly, where Tehran presented its requirements for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian state media.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the assembly after Iran accepted Witkoff's request to meet specifically to discuss conditions for opening the strait, state media reported.
Iran conveyed what it described as "strict" conditions to the US representative. These requirements include an immediate end to the naval blockade, immediate release of frozen Iranian assets, and cessation of war across all "resistance" fronts, state media said.
