Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE: ICE) reported record open interest across its interest rate futures markets on September 2, 2026, reaching 14.5 million contracts, a 25% increase year-over-year, according to a company statement.
The milestone was driven by record open interest in two euro-denominated benchmarks. ICE Euribor futures reached 5.8 million contracts, up 16% year-over-year, while ICE €STR futures hit 3.3 million contracts, up 109% year-over-year.
"The record open interest across Euribor and €STR futures reflects the confidence customers have in ICE's European rates markets and the depth of liquidity across our benchmark contracts," said Caterina Caramaschi, VP of Financial Derivatives at ICE.
ICE's U.K. rates markets also posted gains over the same period. Open interest in SONIA futures and options rose 68% year-over-year, while Gilts futures and options open interest grew 4% year-over-year. ICE also offers rates contracts in Australian, Japanese, Swedish, Norwegian, and Swiss markets.
ICE's broader financial futures complex, which includes interest rate and equity derivatives markets, reached record open interest of 16.9 million contracts on September 2, 2026, up 21% year-over-year. Combined financial derivatives open interest was up 36% year-over-year.
