FIS (NYSE: FIS) announced the launch of its Embedded Banking Platform, a product designed to allow U.S. banks to offer banking services directly within business software used by their corporate customers.
According to a press release, the platform enables banks to provide accounts, card issuing, accounts receivable and payable, and expense management capabilities inside accounting software and other business tools. Banks can integrate these services through APIs, SDKs, embeddable widgets, or white-labeled applications.
A key feature of the platform is that accounts remain on the bank's own balance sheet rather than on a third-party virtual ledger, which the company says preserves customer ownership and regulatory control for the bank while the software partner manages the user experience.
FIS said it is launching the platform with pilot banks including Cogent Bank, Commercial Bank of California, and M&T Bank, with accounts and payments functionality planned for the fourth quarter of 2026.
"Banks' customers want banking built into the software they use to run their business every day," said Jon Briggs, Global Head of Embedded Solutions and Money Movement at FIS. "Embedded Banking Platform lets banks meet those expectations and stay at the center of the relationship, while maintaining the regulatory control and customer ownership that define traditional banking."
FIS is headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, and is a member of the Fortune 500 and the S&P 500 Index.
