Boxabl expands into general contracting, starting in California
Boxabl Inc. (Nasdaq: BXBL), a modular housing manufacturer based in North Las Vegas, announced it has hired a licensed general contractor in California, marking the company's first step toward directly managing site development and installation projects rather than relying on third-party contractors.
Previously, Boxabl manufactured its Casita units while third-party contractors handled permitting, site preparation, foundation work, and installation. Under the new model, Boxabl takes full ownership of the project from manufacturing through final installation by contracting directly with its own licensed general contractor.
The expanded capability is intended to serve two customer types: individual homeowners seeking a bundled path from permitting to installation, and large-scale buyers such as real estate developers, municipalities, and institutional purchasers pursuing multi-unit projects. Large-scale customers will be able to engage Boxabl as a full-service delivery partner or invite the company to bid through a competitive request-for-proposal process.
"This new capacity allows Boxabl to lead the effort for real estate development, and not limit ourselves to just being a manufacturer," said Galiano Tiramani, Boxabl founder and co-CEO. "Boxabl is looking to expand into the market of home building by being able to contract directly with service providers that already exist and still deliver the high-quality product that we have in the past, but at even lower costs."
The company said it plans to expand the in-house contracting capability to additional states as demand warrants, either by hiring contractors licensed in those states or by having existing contractors obtain new state licenses.
Boxabl began trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the ticker symbol BXBL on July 20, 2026, following a business combination with FG Merger II Corp. The company said it has raised over $230 million from more than 50,000 investors since its founding in 2017.
