York Space Systems wins U.S. Space Force data network contract

York Space Systems (NYSE: YSS) has been selected by the U.S. Space Force (USSF) for the Space Data Network Backbone (SDN-B) program, according to a press release from the Denver-based company.

SDN-B is the USSF's program to deliver an integrated, space-based data network built on commercial technologies. Financial terms of the award were not disclosed.

"This on-ramp award reflects performance we have already demonstrated on orbit and a manufacturing base built to deliver at scale," said Dirk Wallinger, CEO of York Space Systems.

The SDN-B selection follows York completing its full Tranche 1 Transport Layer delivery for the Space Development Agency earlier this year. The company states it was the first performer to complete that delivery, with all 42 York-built satellites launched and confirmed operational on orbit.

The SDN-B award brings York's total active mission sets under contract to eight.
