Compared with its inaugural edition, the 2nd TIMA made a major upgrade by moving to the 50,000-capacity Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong, China, a city landmark designed for major sports and entertainment events. Tens of thousands of audience members moved to the rhythm and cheered throughout the performances, lifting the atmosphere to successive peaks.

Multiple prestigious international music honours were announced at the ceremony: Stray Kids received International Group of the Year, Charlie Puth received International Artist of the Year, SUPER JUNIOR received The Most Influential International Group of the Year, G-DRAGON "Übermensch" received The International Digital Album of the Year, William Chan received The Asian Crossover Artist of the Year, and MC Michael Cheung Tin Fu received The Recommended Asian Artist of the Year.
