Cinemo, Dolby Laboratories (NYSE: DLB), and SmashLabs have announced a collaboration to develop music-led gaming experiences designed for vehicle cabins, according to a press release from Cinemo.
The system integrates SmashLabs' games with Cinemo's in-car game APIs, which translate in-game events into real-time vehicle responses including synchronized sound, lighting, haptics, and climate control. Dolby Atmos provides spatial audio intended to convey direction and distance within the cabin as part of gameplay.
The experience is described as available for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) evaluation. Live demonstrations are scheduled for gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, in hall 2.1, stand C-040.
"The future of in-car gaming is not about borrowing content from another screen, it's about designing experiences that could only exist inside the vehicle," said Niccolò Cappon, President and CEO of SmashLabs. "With Cinemo and Dolby, we have built responsive, low-latency gameplay that leverages the cabin, its audio, and its interfaces to make every interaction more engaging and every journey more entertaining."
SmashLabs is also developing a product called Smashworld, described as a collection of original music-based games that can be customized for OEMs. Cinemo, founded in 2008 and headquartered in Karlsruhe, Germany, states it works with more than 40 OEMs and over 20 tier-1 automotive suppliers.
