Sagtec lands $3M order for 1,500 food-serving robots in Dubai
Sagtec Global Limited (NASDAQ: SAGT) announced the commercial launch of its HALO AI Food-Serving Robot and said it received a purchase order for 1,500 units valued at approximately $3 million from SMD Tech – FZCO, its exclusive Dubai-based distributor.
The Malaysia-headquartered company said the units are intended for deployment across the distributor's customer network in the Middle East. Sagtec described the order as its first major commercial order following the development of its AI-assist robotics platform, which it introduced in 2025.
HALO AI is designed to automate front-of-house tasks in restaurant and hospitality environments, including food and beverage delivery. The company said the robot is built to integrate with existing ordering, point-of-sale and digital restaurant management systems.
Sagtec said it plans to use the Dubai deployment as a reference point for potential expansion across the Gulf Cooperation Council and other international markets.
"HALO AI represents the commercialization of our robotics strategy," said Ng Chen Lok, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sagtec. "Securing an order for 1,500 units at the launch of HALO AI provides strong commercial validation of the technology."
Beyond initial hardware sales, the company said it expects the robotics platform to generate revenue from software licensing, subscription services, system integration, maintenance, and data analytics over the lifecycle of each deployment.
Sagtec completed its IPO in March 2025 and said its existing software platform currently serves more than 12,000 clients across Malaysia and Southeast Asia. The company is based in Kuala Lumpur.
