Duke Energy restores 85% of Cincinnati storm outages

Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK) has restored approximately 222,653 customer outages across the Greater Cincinnati area following a series of major storms that struck the region on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 12-13, 2026, causing more than 261,000 total outages.

As of 4 p.m. Thursday, 186,418 outages had been restored in Ohio, with 32,485 remaining. In Kentucky, 36,235 outages were restored, leaving 6,376 still without power. The company said nearly all customers who can safely receive service were expected to have power restored by end of day Thursday.

Duke Energy deployed more than 2,000 lineworkers, tree trimmers and other storm workers, including personnel from Indiana and the Carolinas, to assist with restoration efforts. The company said crews faced hazardous conditions and multiple rounds of severe weather that required temporary work stoppages when lightning and high winds were present.

The Duke Energy Foundation committed $100,000 in emergency grants to organizations providing food, shelter and recovery assistance across the affected region.

Andy Cassidy, Duke Energy storm director, said in a statement: "We appreciate our customers' patience and support as crews continue working as quickly and safely as possible to restore service."

Duke Energy Ohio and Kentucky serve approximately 920,000 electric customers across a 3,000-square-mile service area in Ohio and Kentucky.
