Akanda unit completes 200 km fiber network in Mexico
Akanda Corp. (NASDAQ: AKAN) announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, First Towers & Fiber Corp. (FTF), has completed the physical installation of a 200-kilometer fiber optic network in Mexico, according to a press release.
The first 100 kilometers of the network have been formally accepted by a client and entered a billing phase, with initial lease cash flow expected in August or September 2026. The remaining 100 kilometers are scheduled for client acceptance by December 2026, with full commercial run-rate cash flow projected to begin in January 2027.
FTF also operates a portfolio of 28 cellular tower sites in Mexico, all described as fully operational. The company leases tower assets to network providers under a passive infrastructure model.
The fiber deployment extends FTF's operations into the Guanajuato region, with a focus on the Irapuato-Silao industrial corridor.
Chris Cooper, President of FTF, said the completion of the 200-kilometer network and the entry of the first half into billing represents "a meaningful step toward the recurring revenue growth we've been building toward."
