Lexaria signs material transfer agreement with PegBio for GLP-1 study

August 13, 2026 9:02 AM EDT

Lexaria Bioscience Corp. (NASDAQ: LEXX) has entered into a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) with PegBio Co., Ltd (HKG: 2565) to evaluate Lexaria's DehydraTECH drug delivery technology with a proprietary GLP-1 molecule being developed by PegBio.

Under the agreement, PegBio will supply Lexaria with a proprietary GLP-1 molecule, which Lexaria will then process using its patented DehydraTECH technology and evaluate for pharmacokinetic performance in animal studies. Lexaria said the MTA is separate from a pre-existing material transfer agreement it holds with another, unnamed pharmaceutical company.

PegBio is a biotechnology company focused on metabolic and related chronic diseases. Its first internally developed drug, PB-119 (Visepegenatide Injection), a long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist, was approved in China in November 2025. The company also has additional molecules at various clinical stages, from preclinical through Phase II, in both China and the United States, targeting type-2 diabetes, obesity, and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.

Lexaria was introduced to PegBio through Liberi Group, a life sciences business development consultancy that the company said is supporting its DehydraTECH partnering strategy.

"We welcome PegBio to our expanding group of potential future commercial partners for DehydraTECH-powered GLP-1 drugs," said Richard Christoper, CEO of Lexaria Bioscience Corp.

Lexaria said it will provide an update upon completion of the contemplated studies, including any business decisions made regarding technology licensing or other arrangements. The company holds 66 granted patents and additional patents pending related to its DehydraTECH platform, which is focused on oral drug delivery.
