ZenaTech adds terrain modeling to drone construction software

ZenaTech, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZENA) has expanded its ZenaWorx construction monitoring software to include digital terrain modeling (DTM) capabilities and signed its first paying customer in the AI data center construction market, according to a company statement dated Aug. 13, 2026.

ZenaWorx, which uses LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology delivered through ZenaTech's Drone as a Service (DaaS) division, was originally designed for 3D structural progress tracking. The DTM expansion adds the ability to measure cut-and-fill volumes, grading accuracy, and drainage patterns during the earthworks phase of construction projects. The DTM functionality is currently in beta.

The software is aimed at AI data center developers, landfill operators, and municipalities managing drainage and grading projects. ZenaTech said it intends to structure customer engagements as subscription-based relationships spanning the full duration of a project rather than individual site visits.

"By expanding ZenaWorx into digital terrain modeling, we can offer AI data center developers, as well as public works customers such as landfill operators and municipalities managing drainage and grading projects, a faster and richer view of what is happening on site than traditional survey methods allow," said Shaun Passley, Ph.D., CEO of ZenaTech.

ZenaTech cited data from MarkWide Research projecting the global digital elevation model market to grow from approximately $3.8 billion in 2026 to $10.04 billion by 2035, at a compound annual growth rate of approximately 11.4%.

The company's DaaS division provides drone piloting, data capture, and data processing services to commercial, government, and infrastructure customers. ZenaTech said the division is being expanded through an acquisition-led strategy that combines local service providers into a broader network.
