Syntec Optics posts 26% revenue gain in Q2 2026, returns to profit
Syntec Optics Holdings (NASDAQ: OPTX) reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $8.3 million, a 26% increase from $6.6 million in the same period a year earlier, according to a company press release. The Rochester, New York-based optics manufacturer said the result marked its highest quarterly revenue on record.
Revenue growth was led by the communications segment, up 74%, followed by defense, up 36%, and consumer, up 23%. The company reported net income of $256,237, or $0.01 per share, compared to a net loss of $343,921, or $(0.01) per share, in the prior-year quarter.
Gross profit rose 34% to $2.1 million, with gross margin expanding to 26% from 24% a year earlier. Operating income reached $321,388, compared to an operating loss of $146,250 in the second quarter of 2025.
The company completed a public equity offering during the quarter, generating approximately $21.4 million in net proceeds. It used a portion of those proceeds to repay approximately $6.8 million in debt, eliminating its revolving line of credit. Cash and cash equivalents ended the quarter at approximately $14.0 million, compared to $358,867 at December 31, 2025. Total liabilities fell 43% to $8.4 million from $14.8 million.
CFO Dean Rudy said the company "returned to profitability, strengthened our balance sheet, and continued expanding our presence across multiple complementary growth markets."
On the business side, the company expanded optical communications production awards to approximately $4.3 million, secured a $4.6 million follow-on biomedical diagnostics order, and increased missile laser guidance orders by approximately 40%.
For the third quarter of 2026, management projects revenue between $8.3 million and $9.0 million. For the fourth quarter, the company expects revenue between $8.75 million and $9.25 million.
