LendingTree launches ChatGPT plug-in for mortgage rate browsing

August 4, 2026 12:50 PM EDT

LendingTree, Inc. (NASDAQ: TREE) has launched a ChatGPT plug-in that allows consumers to explore current mortgage and refinance rates through a conversational interface, according to a company press release.

Users can enter details such as estimated credit score, state, and loan amount within ChatGPT to see how those factors affect available rates. The plug-in then directs users to LendingTree.com to compare personalized offers from the company's lender network.

The plug-in is available through ChatGPT's plug-in directory. It does not provide lender-specific quotes, approvals, pre-qualification, or financial advice.

"Consumers are changing how they research financial decisions, and we're meeting them where they are," said Scott Peyree, Chief Executive Officer at LendingTree. "Our ChatGPT plug-in brings the power of LendingTree's mortgage marketplace into a conversational experience, making it easier to explore rates and understand the impact of key borrowing factors before applying for a loan."

A LendingTree analysis cited in the release estimated that borrowers who compare mortgage offers could save an average of $62,572 over the life of a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage.

LendingTree is headquartered in Charlotte, N.C.
