Cloudflare launches AI agent identity and payment tools

Cloudflare, Inc. (NYSE: NET) announced two new products — Cloudflare Wallets and cloudflare.pay — designed to give AI agents a verifiable identity and the ability to make purchases on behalf of their owners.

Under the system, each Cloudflare account will receive a unique web address that functions as a stable identifier. Users can extend that identity to individual AI agents, allowing businesses receiving automated requests to see who authorized them.

On the payment side, an "Account Wallet" will hold and manage stablecoins. Users can then assign "Virtual Wallets" to specific agents, with configurable controls including spending caps, approved merchant lists, and maximum transaction sizes. The wallets are designed to work alongside Cloudflare's existing Monetization Gateway.

"When an agent shows up at your door, you need to know who sent it," said Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare. "Cloudflare can give agents a face — a link to the human or organization that owns them — so that trust, accountability, and real commerce can follow."

Cloudflare wallet handle reservation opened with the announcement. Full wallet functionality, including the ability to move funds in and out and issue Virtual Wallets, is expected to be available in the coming months. According to the company, the announcement is based on a press release statement dated August 4, 2026.
