August 3, 2026 8:01 AM EDT

BorgWarner (NYSE: BWA) has secured extensions of multiple high-voltage inverter programs with an unidentified major European automaker, covering both plug-in hybrid and 800V battery-electric vehicle applications, according to a company press release. Production is planned to begin in 2029.

For plug-in hybrid applications, BorgWarner will supply an updated high-voltage inverter incorporating its proprietary Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) technology, designed to be compatible with the customer's new vehicle operating system.

The 800V battery-electric version features a new generation of the company's proprietary Viper Silicon Carbide (SiC) power switches paired with a dual-sided-cooled power module.

Isabelle McKenzie, President and General Manager of BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems, said: "Extending several high-volume programs at the same time confirms BorgWarner's leading position in power electronics and the strength of our technology, in-house expertise and customer focus."

The company did not disclose the financial value of the awards or identify the European OEM involved.
