Clean Energy wins $27.5M hydrogen station contract with OCTA

Clean Energy Fuels Corp. (NASDAQ: CLNE) has been awarded a $27.5 million contract by the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) to design and build a hydrogen fueling station at OCTA's Garden Grove bus base in California, according to a company press release.

The contract includes design-build services, facility upgrades, operations and maintenance services, and liquid hydrogen fuel supply. The project is expected to be completed in 2028.

OCTA currently operates 10 hydrogen fuel cell buses and expects to add 40 more by the time the station is operational. The agency also runs battery-electric and compressed natural gas buses and has a stated goal of transitioning to a fully zero-emission bus fleet by 2040, in line with California's Innovative Clean Transit regulations.

Clean Energy, headquartered in Newport Beach, California, will provide the infrastructure to support OCTA's expanding hydrogen fleet. Alphonse Anderson, Senior Account Manager at Clean Energy, said the company has previously built hydrogen stations for other Southern California transit agencies.

OCTA serves a county of over 3.1 million residents and operates buses from four locations, one of which is the Garden Grove bus base where the new station will be built.
