Investing.com -- South Korea's finance ministry announced Wednesday it will implement immediate measures targeting single-stock leveraged exchange-traded funds. The ministry plans to impose a cap on investment in these products and increase trading costs associated with them.
The finance ministry said it will maintain a 24-hour stock market monitoring system. The government also intends to prepare legal grounds for market stabilizing measures that can be deployed in emergency situations.
The measures represent a regulatory response focused specifically on single-stock leveraged ETFs, which allow investors to make amplified bets on individual company shares.
