W. R. Berkley names new executive vice president and Berkley Re America head

W. R. Berkley Corporation (NYSE: WRB) has appointed Daniel R. Westcott as executive vice president, with Robert R. Coyne, Jr. named as his successor to the role of president of Berkley Re America. Robert C. Hewitt, an existing executive vice president of the company, has been named chairman of Berkley Re. All appointments are effective immediately, according to a press release.

Westcott has nearly 30 years of experience in the property casualty reinsurance market and joined Berkley Re America as president in 2019. Coyne joined W. R. Berkley in 2006 and became senior vice president of Berkley Re America in 2010, bringing more than 30 years of experience in the property casualty reinsurance business. Hewitt joined W. R. Berkley in 2002 as senior vice president for risk management and was named executive vice president of the company in 2016.

W. Robert Berkley, Jr., chairman, chief executive officer, and president of W. R. Berkley Corporation, said: "Dan's skills and broad experience in the reinsurance market, as well as his extensive knowledge of our organization, will serve us well as he takes on oversight of our assumed reinsurance businesses."
