Schrödinger launches AI tool Bunsen for molecular discovery

Schrödinger, Inc. (Nasdaq: SDGR) has launched an early access version of Bunsen, an agentic AI tool designed to assist researchers in molecular discovery workflows, the company announced in a press release.

Bunsen combines AI with physics-based simulation to help researchers interpret scientific objectives, develop computational strategies, execute molecular discovery workflows, and analyze results. The tool is intended for both computational chemists and drug researchers without a computational background.

As part of existing collaborations with Nvidia and Google Cloud, both companies will provide infrastructure support for early Bunsen customers. The setup includes Google Cloud's computing infrastructure and integration with the Nvidia BioNeMo Agent Toolkit and Nvidia RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs.

"In an era where computation is fundamentally changing molecular discovery, Bunsen expands what research teams can accomplish," said Ramy Farid, Ph.D., president and CEO of Schrödinger. "Bunsen removes friction from the discovery cycle, enabling greater throughput and expanding the user base for our computational platform."

Schrödinger noted that its throughput-based licensing model is structured to reflect increased platform utilization as customers expand their use of Bunsen.

The early access version is available to select customers, with a full commercial release expected by the end of 2026.
