Facebook launches Seller app for Marketplace users in the US
Investing.com -- Facebook introduced Seller, a new mobile application designed for people who use Facebook Marketplace to sell items. The app launched today on the App Store for users aged 18 and older in the United States.
The standalone app provides tools for managing sales activity on Facebook Marketplace. Users can access AI-powered listing creation, a unified message inbox, inventory management features, and sales performance data through the application.
Facebook Marketplace currently hosts 430 million item listings each month across global markets. The platform began 10 years ago when users started buying and selling items in Facebook Groups.
The Seller app connects with Facebook Marketplace accounts, transferring existing listings, messages, and sales history to the new platform. Items created in the Seller app appear automatically on Facebook Marketplace for buyers to view.
The app includes a home screen that shows pending tasks such as items awaiting shipment, buyer messages requiring responses, and listings that may need price adjustments. It also displays sales performance information.
Meta AI technology assists with listing creation by generating titles, descriptions, price suggestions, and category selections after users upload photos. The app supports bulk listing creation for multiple items at once.
The unified inbox organizes buyer conversations by item, allowing sellers to view all messages related to specific listings. Performance tracking shows metrics including views, clicks, message threads, and completed sales.
Facebook stated the app will expand to a web version for iOS users and Android testing is currently in progress. The company said it plans to update the app based on user feedback.
