System1 launches Dogpile Fetch, a search API for AI agents

System1 (NYSE: SST) has launched Dogpile Fetch, a web search API and MCP server designed for AI agents, under its Dogpile metasearch brand, which has operated since 1996.

The product installs in Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible client. Each query is automatically classified and routed to a backend, returning ranked results, knowledge graph data, and People Also Ask questions. A "Deep" mode breaks complex queries into multiple searches and removes duplicate results. Pricing starts at $2 per 1,000 calls, with a free monthly credit and no credit card required at sign-up.

The launch is accompanied by an analysis from System1's Dogpile Developer team, which ran real agent queries through seven search APIs and found that any single search index returned only about half of the results collectively available across all indexes. A 2006 study, commissioned by Dogpile's then-parent company, found that 84.9% of first-page results from four major search engines appeared on only one of them. System1 says its new analysis shows the same pattern among search APIs used by AI agents today.

"We measured it: pick any one search tool and your agent misses about half of what the other indexes find," said Chris Testa, System1's Chief Technology Officer. "Thirty years ago Dogpile's answer was to search them all and pile up the best results. It turns out that's exactly what your agent needs now."

System1 operates several internet brands including MapQuest, Startpage.com, and CouponFollow, in addition to Dogpile.
