Nordic American Tankers Ltd (NYSE: NAT) disclosed that three of its suezmax vessels were held in the Arabian Gulf from Feb. 28, 2026, and have since been freed and returned to worldwide trading, according to a statement from the company.
The company also reported that one of its vessels was attacked in the Black Sea. The crew was unharmed and the ship sustained minor damage. The vessel has since left the Black Sea area.
Nordic American Tankers said it does not operate ships in the Red Sea and that no significant insurance issues arose from either the Arabian Gulf or Black Sea incidents.
The company stated that suezmax tanker rates remain high and that it expects this to continue for at least one to two years, citing a scarcity of available vessels. Each of its suezmax ships carries approximately one million barrels of oil.
Nordic American Tankers noted that more than 50% of its business is conducted with major oil companies, and that its ships have loaded or discharged cargo in 68 countries over the past five years.
The statement was issued by Herbjorn Hansson, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Nordic American Tankers Ltd.
